General Information section 1.0

In a Preliminary Welding Procedure Specification (pWPS), the General Information section provides the basic identification and reference details of the welding procedure. This section allows welders, inspectors, and engineers to easily identify the procedure being used.

📋 pWPS General Information (Typical Items):

✅ Company Name in pWPS -
Identifies the owner of the welding procedure
Shows which company qualified the procedure
Provides traceability for audits and inspections
Confirms the procedure is approved by that organization

✅ Supporting PQR Number - Reference number of the test record that proves the welding procedure works and produces acceptable welds.

✅ Code / Standard - Official welding rule or guideline that the welding procedure must comply with to ensure safe and acceptable weld quality.

✅ Welding Process - Specifies which welding process the welder must use to perform the weld. (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW)

✅ pWPS Number - Reference number used to identify and track a particular welding procedure document within a company or project. Each welding procedure has its own unique WPS number for documentation and control.

✅ Revision Number - a number used to track changes or updates made to the pWPS after its original issue. Each time the pWPS is modified, the revision number increases to keep record of the changes.

✅ Authorized By - The person who approves and signs the pWPS so it can be used for welding operations. This person is usually a qualified authority in the company, such as: (Welding Engineer, QA/QC Manager, Welding Supervisor, Technical Manager)

✅ Date - the official date when the WPS was prepared, approved, or updated. This helps identify when the procedure became valid for use.

✅ Welding Type(Type) - Indicates how the welding process is performed (manual, semi-automatic, automatic, or mechanized).
