Much like a plant after it blooms, nothing truly happens only once. Blooming is never the final formโit is only a moment in a longer cycle. There is a season for roots, a season for growth, and a season where everything quietly opens all at once. And after that moment of bloom, it does not stop. Only...it simply changes direction.
It falls back into the ground, not as something finished, but as something returning. What once stood visible becomes unseen again, but not gone. It is held by the soil, carried by memory, and shaped by everything that came before it.
And what remains is never just what was left behind. It is what continues. It is reshaped. It is softened. It is strengthened by every stage it has passed through. It may not look the same, it may not grow in the same way, but it continues forward, becoming something that time still has yet to fully show.

BIOniJUAN Closing Proper
BIOniJUAN came to a closeโbut not without leaving something behind.
From planning to implementation, every part of the program was carried by people who showed up, took part, and gave what they could. Students, speakers, volunteers, and the Barangay Maipalig community all played a role in turning the initiative into something real and shared.
The closing program, led by Ms. Desiree Kyle Sabado, brought everything togetherโrecognizing the efforts made, the lessons gained, and the impact created through collective action.
More than an ending, it marked a continuation, of practices learned, of systems built, and of a community that now carries them forward.

The third seminar under Project DANUM TI BIYAG, led by the BS in Biology 1C students, brought together residents for a focused discussion on water quality and safety.
Participants were introduced to basic water assessment techniques, proper sanitation practices, and sustainable approaches to maintaining safe water sources, guided by insights from Ms. Shaira Dawn G. Oaquera, MSc., RMicr., from the Department of Biological Sciences.
Beyond the session, selected proponents conducted a field activity to identify and assess potential water sources, applying what was learned in a real setting and strengthening the projectโs goal of ensuring safe and sustainable water access for the community.
A step forwardโnot just in awareness, but in action.

๐๐ป ๐ฃ๐ต๐ผ๐๐ผ๐ | Project U.O.N.G.๐
Project U.O.N.G. (Bio-Organic Solution for Sustainable Agriculture in Oyster Mushroom Farming) presents a sustainable approach to converting locally available agricultural waste into productive substrates for oyster mushroom cultivationโturning organic materials into food while supporting soil health and reducing environmental waste.
The session was led by invited Grade 12 STEM student researchers from Ferdinand E. Marcos Senior High School: Charles Irish A. Marcos, Rob Vincent M. Ilar, and Mark Lhester N. Franco, together with their research adviser Mark Janree Valencia. They were joined by mentors Fidel Galarce, Edheliza Galarce, and Sherwin Cantanero of Galarce Mushroom Farm, who shared their expertise and hands-on experience in mushroom production.
Participants were guided through the step-by-step process of oyster mushroom cultivation through demonstrations and applied learning, connecting research-based knowledge with practical implementation. Rooted in the spirit of bayanihan, the activity strengthened the link between science, community engagement, and sustainable livelihood.

Following the seminar proper led by Ms. Lianne Bulosan, Ms. Janine Mackenzie Galiste, and Mr. Bien Karlo Galapin on environmental awareness and composting practices, the proponents of Project RANIAG (Reinforcing Awareness, Nature, and Innovative Green Practices), led by the BS in Biology 1B students, proceeded with the hands-on construction of community compost pits.
Selected sites within the barangay were carefully assessed to ensure proper placementโconsidering distance from households and water sources, as well as suitability for long-term use. Guided by the concepts discussed during the seminar, participants applied composting principles step by step during the actual construction process.
Through this initiative, environmental learning was translated into practical action, supporting the barangayโs efforts toward sustainable waste management.
What was taught, now takes form.

BIOniJUAN Program Proper
MMSU Bachelor of Science in Biology I students, under the National Service Training Program โ Civic Welfare Training Service (NSTP-CWTS), carried out the core activities of
The seminar sessions featured student speakers who shared discussions on environmental awareness, proper waste management, sustainable practices, and water safety across the three initiativesโProject RANIAG, Project U.O.N.G., and Project DANUM TI BIYAG. This was followed by orientations and hands-on training, where participants actively engaged in composting practices, oyster mushroom cultivation, and water quality awareness activities.
From discussion to application, the program unfolded as both learning and action came together. Something no longer just planned, but fully happening.

The wait is overโand what once began beneath finally comes to life.
Today marks the implementation of Empowering Communities Through Environmental Sustainability, where ideas turn into action through three community-based programs: Project U.O.N.G., Project RANIAG, and Project DANUM TI BIYAG.
From sustainable agriculture, to proper waste management, to water safetyโthis is where growth becomes visible, shared, and real.
Rooted in the spirit of bayanihan, we move together: learning, building, and creating change that lasts beyond today.
