From Camarines Sur to Batanes: A Filipino Traveler’s Journey Across 82 Provinces

For Rose Durante, a Filipino traveler originally from Camarines Sur and now based in Rizal, travel began as simple holiday getaways, but eventually grew into a personal mission to complete all 82 provinces of the Philippines.

Her journey started in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte during Holy Week in April 2006. What began as a casual trip with friends, enjoying beaches, local food, and nearby attractions, slowly became a regular habit of traveling every holiday starting in 2009, as a way to unwind from work and stress.

Years later, on April 23, 2026, she reached her final province: Batanes. Known for its rolling hills, stone houses, lighthouses, and dramatic cliffs, Batanes became a fitting final destination. She described Itbayat’s landscapes as surreal, like stepping into another world, leaving her with a deep appreciation for the beauty of the Philippines: “Ang ganda mo, Pilipinas.”

The idea of completing all 82 provinces became more intentional after joining the ZamBaSul tour on August 23, 2023. There, she learned about Project82ph and realized she had already visited nearly half of the country. From then on, she embraced the challenge as a “joiner” traveler, steadily working toward completion.

Her inspiration traces back to her younger self in high school, when she first studied Philippine geography and dreamed of seeing the country’s destinations in real life. After finishing her studies and securing stable work in Manila, she began turning that dream into reality, despite the financial planning and sacrifices involved. Many of her travels were made possible through group tours with flexible payment schemes.

Through her journey, she learned to appreciate different local cultures and perspectives more deeply. She also carries a simple message: support local communities, because every Filipino province shares one nation and one identity.

Now recognized as the 292nd finisher of visiting all Philippine provinces, Rose Durante’s journey stands as a story of persistence, curiosity, and love for the country she explored one province at a time.
