The National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL) will be conducting the 2026 Future Science Leaders Forum (FSLF) on September 4-5, 2026, in Manila.

The event aims to empower young Filipino science leaders to realize their full leadership potential in their respective fields and to provide a platform for building a network of peers, mentors, and advisors.

NAST PHL invites the heads of institutions to nominate a maximum of three (3) emerging leaders across various scientific disciplines. The activity is intended for individuals below 41 years of age who have demonstrated exceptional aptitude and leadership potential in their respective fields of expertise. Nominees should possess a strong record of achievement, exhibit excellent communication skills, and display the enthusiasm, character, and capability to represent their institution effectively.

Sa panahon ngayon na pabago-bago at mataas ang presyo ng LPG at kuryente, malaking tulong ang biogas - isang abot kaya at environment-friendly alternative source of energy. ⛽️⚡️

Hindi mo na kailangan umasa sa uling o kahoy na panggatong para makatipid sa LPG at kuryente dahil gamit ang mga nabubulok na basura tulad ng kitchen waste , dumi ng hayop, agricultural waste, slaughterhouse waste, at maging dumi ng tao ay maaari ka nang makagawa ng biogas na pwedeng gamitin sa pagluluto at pang-ilaw. Nakakabuo rin ito ng sludge na ginagamit bilang organikong pampataba ng lupa. 🌾🌱

Ito ay sa tulong ng 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐠𝐚𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 - isang makabagong teknolohiya na madaling gawin, ikabit, at ilipat kaya pwedeng gamitin sa iba’t ibang lugar at maliliit na kabahayan. Ang teknolohiyang ito ay mula sa Department of Science and Technology – Industrial Technology Development Institute
(DOST-ITDI).

Noon pa man, sinusuportahan na talaga ng DOST ang mga teknolohiyang nakakatulong sa kalikasan. 🌏♻️

Kadalasan, ang mga di nabubulok na basura lang ang naiisip nating i-recycle pero ngayon pati ang mga nabubulok na basura ay napapakinabangan na rin. ✨

Kapag inaalagaan natin ang kalikasan, tayo rin ang nakikinabang. 💚

May 6, 2026 – The DOST PSTO Batanes Team, represented by Science Research Specialists II Engr. Joy Ann Mina-Horlina and Ms. Charmaine Irenea P. Tagarino, recently coordinated with the Local Government Unit of Sabtang headed by Hon. Teresita C. Neyala, Municipal Mayor, regarding the possible installation of a solar water pump at Vuhos Island, Sabtang. The proposed initiative aims to help address water access concerns in the area through sustainable and environment-friendly technology.

Aside from the coordination meeting, the DOST team also conducted project monitoring for the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) Project entitled “Establishment of Creative Ounce of Valuable Innovative Products.” During the visit, Ms. Adelina Abanador, Focal Person for Tubho Processing, shared the current status of tubho-based products in Sabtang. At present, products such as Tubho Tea and Tubho Concentrate are available at the Sabtang Pasalubong Center, showcasing the community’s efforts in promoting local resources and value-added products.

Furthermore, the DOST team, together with Mayor Neyala and Ms. Abanador, conducted a site inspection for the possible propagation of tubho in Sabtang, Batanes. The activity aimed to identify suitable areas for expanding tubho production and strengthening livelihood opportunities for the community through science, technology, and innovation initiatives.

𝐃𝐎𝐒𝐓, 𝐏𝐒𝐀, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐂𝐈𝐏 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐏𝐈 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐛𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠

The Provincial Nutrition Committee (PNC) Members, composed of representatives from DOST, NCIP, and PSA, conducted the annual Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) in Sabtang, Batanes on May 5, 2026.

The activity aimed to assess the performance of the Local Government Unit (LGU) in implementing nutrition-related programs and services in the municipality. Through the MELLPI, the committee identified strengths, areas for improvement, and opportunities to further enhance local nutrition initiatives.

The Sabtang Rural Health Unit was represented by Mr. Jay E. Martinez, ICO-MHO/Nurse II during the evaluation activity.

The annual evaluation also serves as a venue to promote best practices and strengthen collaboration among stakeholders in achieving better nutrition outcomes for the community.
