PADDLE OUT FOR LENI-KIKO 🏄🏻♀️🏄🏻
LOOK: Around 80 surfers showed up in the recent “Paddle Out” held in the sea of Northshore, San Juan, La Union last April 30, as a show of support for Vice President Leni Robredo and running mate Senator Kiko Pangilinan’s candidacy.
“The [La Union] surfers’ ‘Paddle Out’ was in solidarity with what the Leni-Kiko campaign stands for – Gobyernong Tapat,” Kat Rances Imperial, one of the event organizers, told the Inquirer.
“In surfing, a paddle out is usually held to honor someone who has passed away, but through the years, surfers around the world have paddled out as a form of environmental protest, social activism, and as a way to show support for a certain cause,” she explained.
As the “Surfers for Leni-Kiko” recognize that Robredo and Pangilinan’s campaign has evolved into a movement, they opted to take a stand and be part of the movement to fight “for truth, for integrity, and for a government that is truly for the people.”
