BISU Balilihan - Gender and Development

The Bohol Island State University (BISU) Balilihan Campus formally joined the nationwide observance of the National Women’s Month Celebration with its opening program held on March 2, 2026, at the Multipurpose Covered Court. The event was part of the month-long activities under the theme “WE for Gender Equality & Inclusive Society – .”

The program commenced with the Prayer, Singing of Hymns, Vision, Mission, and Quality Policy, led by Mr. Ray Nathaniel Pam-ot, and Ms. Jetia Kiesha Dua.

Dr. Benjamin N. Omamalin, University DOI, delivered the Words of Welcome, setting a warm and inclusive tone for the celebration. Ms. Maria Bella C. Olaguir, Department Head of GAD, presented the Statement of Purpose and outlined the activities planned for Women’s Month, emphasizing the importance of gender equality and inclusivity.

A Message was given by Dr. Marietta C. Macalolot, Campus Director, highlighting the university’s commitment to empowering women and fostering an inclusive academic environment. The audience was inspired by a Pre-Recorded Video Message from Dr. Anthony M. Penaso, University President, who underscored the role of education in advancing gender equality.

The Pledge of Commitment was led by Mrs. Mae Angel E. Taray, TWG-GAD, where participants affirmed their dedication to promoting women’s rights and inclusivity. The event concluded with Closing Remarks from Dr. Jocelyn P. Lumactud, Director of SAS, reinforcing the significance of collective action in achieving gender equality.

The program was well-attended by faculty, staff, and students, reflecting the university’s strong support for the advocacy of women’s empowerment. The opening program successfully set the tone for the month-long celebration of National Women’s Month at BISU Balilihan Campus. With its blend of inspirational messages, cultural presentations, and collective pledges, the event not only honored women but also reaffirmed the university’s role as a catalyst for gender equality and social inclusivity.
