Prayer for Thursday Afternoon – For Peace Amid War

Heavenly Father, on this Thursday afternoon, we come before You with heavy hearts for all places torn apart by war. We lift up every person caught in conflict – the innocent civilians forced from their homes, the men and women serving in uniform, the children who know no peace, and the families waiting in fear and hope.

Grant wisdom to leaders making decisions that affect countless lives. Strengthen the hands of those providing aid, comfort, and medical care to the wounded and displaced. Soften hardened hearts, and guide us all toward dialogue, understanding, and reconciliation.

May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, cover every battlefield, every refugee camp, and every home touched by violence. Help us here, even in our safety, to be instruments of Your peace – to work for justice, to stand with the oppressed, and to never grow weary of hoping for a world where swords are beaten into plowshares.
