TANZA, Cavite — Mayor SM Matro personally visited several local talipapa areas in Tanza to ensure the accuracy of weighing scales and to protect the welfare of consumers.

During his rounds, the mayor inspected the weighing scales used by vendors and reminded them of the importance of honesty in trade. After the inspection, Mayor Matro bought out several meat products and immediately distributed them to residents he met while shopping at the market.

According to Mayor Matro, maintaining honesty in livelihood and business is essential.

“Are you not afraid? Let’s check the weighing scales first. That’s quite excessive in weighing—can we negotiate? There is always good that comes back from being honest with others,” the mayor said.

Marketgoers expressed gratitude for the mayor’s gesture of concern and for the free meat they received while doing their daily market activities.

Alfonso Cavite Mayor Randy Salamat distributed boxes of fish fillet to residents of Barangay Sinaliw Malaki, providing meal assistance as a gesture of gratitude and care for the people of Alfonso.

The distribution was carried out in coordination with Barangay Captain Enrile Punzalan and the barangay council. According to the mayor, the fish fillets were personally funded by him and Councilor Jeff Salamat as a simple way of giving back to the community.

Joining the activity were ABC President Leonardo Diroy Jr., Councilor Cynthia Peji, and Councilor Ebeth Varias, who helped in distributing the food assistance to residents.

Mayor Salamat said that sharing blessings should not be limited to Christmas or special occasions, emphasizing that acts of service and generosity can be extended at any time of the year.

He also assured residents that similar distribution activities will be conducted in all barangays across Alfonso so that more Alfonseños can benefit from the program and feel the local government's appreciation and concern for their welfare.

Mayor SM Matro continues to visit various barangays in Tanza to personally check on residents battling cancer and provide assistance to help address their needs.

During his visits, the mayor takes time to speak with patients and their families to learn about their situation and offer support. Assistance provided includes essential necessities and other forms of aid that may help ease the challenges of ongoing treatment and recovery.

According to the local government, the initiative aims to assure cancer patients that they are not alone in their fight and that the municipality remains committed to supporting them during difficult times.

The program reflects the continued dedication of the local government to delivering compassionate public service and ensuring that assistance reaches residents who need it most, particularly those facing serious health challenges.
