Today was a significant day for the Buvussi sub Parish Catholic Church which celebrated Pentecost Sunday with two events, confirmation of 111 believers and 46 taking their first holy communion. This culminated in the presentation of three cheques totaling K300,000 from PSIP funds.
Governor Sasindran Muthuvel presented
K100,000 to Buvussi Catholic Church which requested assistance to build a new Church building to replace the aging building built in 1972.
Kimbe Diocesr Bishop John Bosco Auram thanked Governor Muthuvel for the assistance and said once the new Church building is completed Buvussi sub parish will become a full parish.
Governor Muthuvel also presented K100,000 each to Buvussi Primary and Junior High schools who had requested assistance to build additional classrooms.
The Provincial Government had committed K250,000 each which had been budgeted for and the balance will be given at a later date.
Malaria is among the top killer disease in PNG. The Government remains fully committed to ensuring that all.communities continue to receive access to essential malaria prevention services like mosquito nets, testing and treatment.
Department of Health. WNBPG. WNBPHA and Rotarians against Malaria (RAM) have partnered and RAM is distributing long lasting Insecticidal Nets funded by Global Fund. The distribution campaign was launched on Monday this week by Governor Sasimdran Muthuvel. Health Secretary Pascoe Kase, General General Manager for Rotarians against Malaria, Dr Munir Ahmed PHA Board Chairman Steven Raphael and CEO Dr Joseph Nale.
People of WNB are being urged to use the mosquito nets for its intended purpose to safe guard them against Malaria.
RAM will distribute 225,100 mosquitoes nets across 32 Health centers in WNB.
Governor Muthuvel has thanked Global fund for the funding assistance and said all Stakeholders have to work together in the fight against Malaria.
