Full day kayak fishing in the protected lake.
Today we welcomed David from Texas for a full day on the water, fishing with fly fishing and spinning in the Amazon.
The access to the lake was muddy after the rains, but we made it early and started the day with a traditional breakfast before launching the kayaks.
The morning started with fly fishing.
Two pacos showed up… two chances… both escaped. A beautiful tucunaré also got away. Fishing wasn’t easy today.
With some wind on the lake, we switched to spinning — and that made the difference.
David landed a paco on a mid-water lure, plus a piranha, a small tucunaré and a wolf fish (huasaco).
Not an easy day, but a real Amazon fishing experience.
Good food, great effort and one well-earned paco.
That’s fishing in the Amazon.

🌅 Sunset in the Amazon jungle… and four little monkeys quietly moving through the forest.
They climb down from the trees, one by one, disappearing into the dense rainforest vegetation.
Moments like this remind us that every journey in the Amazon is also about wildlife, silence, and connection with nature.
Would you stop to watch… or keep moving? 🐒🌿

Rain still falling.
Carter and I moving slowly on the double kayak.
A white heron crosses the lake in silence and lands on the shore.
Moments like this remind us that fishing here is not only about the catch —
it’s about being part of the Amazon, even under the rain.

Big colors, strong fights and respect for the fish.
Carter lands another beautiful peacock bass from the double kayak, using a mid-water lure, under steady rain in a protected lake of the Peruvian Amazon.
Every capture is a moment, every release is part of the experience.
