Mass over-crowding, lack of sanitation, squalid conditions, prisoners sleep anywhere they can including stairways, hallways, floors. Privileges to use a toilet (rather than a shared bucket) must be paid for in cash with bribe money to the prison guards as well as the gang members who run the prison. As there is no clean or safe drinking water, prisoners must buy bottled water from the guards and/or the gang members at a premium price with what ever money they may be fortunate enough to receive from family and friends (same as with all other items & privileges including but not limited to food, toilet paper, clothing, and any medical care). Foreign Embassies have zero control and in fact can do absolutely nothing to help their countrymen but send a representative to visit once every 3 months. Sickness, malnourishment and disease run rampant, as does violence. In a nutshell, Sarita Colonia Prison in Callao, Peru ranks as one of the world's most corrupt and inhuman prisons.

"FREEDOM ROAD CONSULTING" is independent & licensed in the country of PERU, and was founded by JJS Consulting, Inc. (a company based in the United States) for the sole purpose of helping foreigners who have been arrested and detained by the Peruvian Authorities.

As many people are well aware, Peru has a serious problem with corruption. For those foreigners who are arrested, the corruption starts at the very beginning of the arrest process at "Dirando", where alleged attorneys are literally waiting outside for naive and frightened foreigners who have been arrested, to take advantage of and capitalize on their limited understanding of the Peruvian language and justice system. These alleged attorneys provide a small amount of legal counsel until they receive payment of their retainer, at which point the clients relax, thinking they are in honest and capable hands. Unfortunately, it is also at this point that the alleged attorneys disappear. Their mobile phone numbers are disconnected and it becomes evident that the information listed on their business cards was fraudulent. The clients are left with no money, no legal counsel or representation, and no idea of what is going to happen to them. Even some Embassies have limited knowledge of the attorneys whose names they provide to their countrymen; especially as it pertains to the validity of their licenses.

For this reason, we have created Freedom Road Consulting. Our objective is to eliminate the fear of corruption and fraud that so many foreigners fall victim to upon being arrested in Peru. Freedom Road Consulting will represent the best interests of our clients using independent, affiliated legal counsel, and our dedicated staff will guide them through every step of this often long and complicated process.

Aside from legal counsel, we also provide many other services focused on helping our clients cope with the issues they face while they are incarcerated in Peru. These services include but are not limited to: money transfers, delivery of medicines and other medical needs, postal pickup and/or delivery, and assistance in vital communication with family or friends.

We are very much aware that these are SELF SUPPORTING PRISONS and of the issues this entails. Our services aim to alleviate the mounting pressures; mentally, physically and financially, that are placed upon those who are incarcerated here.

We understand that many Embassies are only able to visit prisoners once per every three months, and sometimes less often, due to short staffing or limited budget capabilities. Freedom Road Consulting is available to assist with our professional and knowledgeable Embassy support services. Individuals and Embassies alike will have the ability to contract or hire us on a monthly or annual basis.

The President of Freedom Road Consulting is Dr. Damaris Anai Madrid Rivera, a licensed psychiatrist. The company staff includes our Tri-lingual Secretary who speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese, our Client Relations Department consisting of a team of three fluent in multiple languages: Polish, Russian, English, Czechoslovakian, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Hebrew and many more, and our Executive Office Manager, Linda Yesenia Madrid Saavedra, who is in her graduating year of law school at the Universidad Cesar Vallejo. We are recruiting additional staff as well. We are affiliated with two independent and licensed Peruvian criminal defense attorneys who have over 10 years experience specializing in criminal law, which changes regularly. We have carefully hand-picked each member of our organization based on their knowledge and experience, their sensitivity, and their unwavering focus toward helping our clients get through this very difficult time.
