Peru will reopen its borders and resume international flights on October 5 with a limited group of countries, after almost seven months of closure due to the pandemic, President Martín Vizcarra announced this Friday, September 25, 2020. "International flights will be authorized, as of October 5, between countries in the region and little by little to other latitudes," Vizcarra said at a press conference. He specified that the authorization will be given according to specific protocols that will be established by the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Health. “Already in the first week of October. Molecular testing will be required ”of covid-19 with a validity of 48 hours, he said. "These flights will be to safe destinations from the sanitary point of view," he added. Transport Minister Carlos Estremadoyro said on September 2 that the United States, Mexico, Spain and Chile would be part of the first group of countries from which flights to Peru will be authorized.
