Arequipa no fue reconocida como Patrimonio Mundial solo por ser bella. 🏛️
Su Centro Histórico conserva una forma única de construir, habitar y entender la ciudad: muros de sillar, casonas, templos, patios y calles que cuentan siglos de historia.
La UNESCO destacó el valor de su arquitectura, donde se unen técnicas europeas y materiales locales, dando origen a una identidad propia marcada por el sillar y el paisaje volcánico.
Pero ser Patrimonio Mundial no es solo un título.
También es una responsabilidad compartida: cuidar la ciudad, respetar sus espacios y mantener viva su memoria.
Porque Arequipa no solo se admira.
También se protege.
🏛️ Arequipa was not recognized as a World Heritage Site only for its beauty.
Its Historic Center preserves a unique way of building, living, and understanding the city: sillar stone walls, colonial houses, temples, courtyards, and streets that hold centuries of history.
UNESCO highlighted the value of its architecture, where European techniques and local materials come together to create an identity deeply connected to volcanic stone and the surrounding landscape.
But being a World Heritage Site is not only a title.
It is also a shared responsibility: to care for the city, respect its spaces, and keep its memory alive.
Because Arequipa is not only admired.
It is also protected.
