CCTV Headquarters Beijing - Mega Structures #3

The headquarters of China Central Television (CCTV) is a 234m tall building with a highly unusual shape, described as a 'three-dimensional cranked loop'. The building is formed by two leaning towers, bent 90° at the top & bottom to form a continuous tube.📐

The building’s primary support is achieved through the irregular grid on its surface, a visible expression of the forces travelling through the tube structure; the smaller the diagonal pattern, the stronger the load and the greater the support.👷‍♀️

The gravity-defying structure of the building has redefined the traditional form of skyscrapers and posed unparalleled structural challenges.🌌

The Louvre is the world's largest museum & houses one of the most impressive art collections in history. The magnificent, baroque-style museum sits along the banks of the Seine River in Paris.🏞

It is home to more than 380,000 pieces of art ranging from sculptures to paintings, as well as many other historically significant objects. 🖼

The Louvre Museum's Pyramid was built in 1989, using almost 700 glass panes. It is 20 meters in height and covers 1,225 square meters.📐

The Mona Lisa, one of the most famous pieces of art at the Louvre Museum, was stolen in 1911. It was returned two years later. It is now housed behind bullet proof glass in its own climate-controlled room in the Louvre.🤗
