We had a short window yesterday before the Southerly front rolled up the island - with only 20cm of snow on the ground in Mt Cook village it was incredible to find 60cm of none wind effected powder out in the patch at Aoraki / Mt Cook !

Rainfall forecast through midday Wednesday ⬇️. Many areas, especially across the South Island, are forecast to receive significant rainfall. However, to understand possible impacts, it's helpful to compare what is 'normal' with what is forecast. July rainfall normals for many south and southeastern locations of the South Island range from 40-80 mm. Over the coming 3 days, some locations are likely to receive 1-2x times their monthly normal.. These same areas are at greatest risk for impacts such as flooding and slips. ~Chris
