I love the creative process, but there’s something especially satisfying about completing a custom sculpture commission and seeing it ready for its new home.
These impressive 2.1m and 1.6m sculptures feature hand-inlaid copper, and carving into solid railway sleepers is no small task! The finished pieces are bold, striking, and add height, character, and a real focal point to any garden.
The best part? Their new owner is absolutely thrilled and will be making the trip to the Bay of Plenty next week to collect them.

The only thing cooler than one of my giant manta rays selling at The Mandarin Tree… was the ride it left the gallery in 🔥
This gorgeous Chevrolet Bel Air rolled up and swallowed our 1400 x 1400mm manta whole, no tail hanging out, no awkward boot half-shut situation 😎
I’m starting to think one of these might need to become the new delivery vehicle.

Very grateful for the stretch of fine weather last week, it gave me the perfect excuse to head out to Te Puna Quarry Park and revisit my 2022 installation.
It’s always special seeing these pieces. I gave the sculptures a fresh coat of varnish, keeping them protected and looking their best for the next couple of years.
How these outdoor artworks age is completely up to you, a little maintenance will preserve the original finish, or you can let them naturally weather and evolve over time, developing their own unique patina 🍂
