Coach update - NZ Champs — Session 7 Morning Update

A strong morning from Swim Rotorua on Day 4 of NZ Champs.

Ariel Muchirahondo qualified 1st for tonight’s Open A Final in the 200 Fly, swimming 2:03.35 this morning. He will race again tonight in the A Final at 6:08pm. The session starts with the Legends Relay at 6:00pm, so make sure you are watching early in case the timing moves.

Noah Lomas had a solid swim in the 100 Free, finishing in 56.11. Which is a 2 second course PB for him.

Sinje Meyners raced the 50 Breast, finishing in 36.09, placing her just outside the finals.

Well done team
One big race tonight. Let’s get behind Ariel in the 200 Fly final.

Another fantastic night for Swim Rotorua at the 2026 NZ Swimming Championships.

Ariel Muchirahondo produced an outstanding swim in the Men’s 400 Freestyle, finishing 2nd Open overall and winning the 17–18 years title in 3:54.04.

Olivia Emmett continued her strong meet with 2nd place in the Women’s 17–18 years 200 Freestyle in 2:02.61, before later placing 4th Open and 2nd 17–18 years in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:21.05.

Zack Pask also stepped up well in the Men’s 400 Freestyle, placing 9th in the 17–18 years age group in 4:16.42.

A great night of racing with strong performances, podium finishes and plenty to be proud of from the team. 🔥🏊‍♂️🏊‍♀️
