Tompkins Wake Rotorua
12/05/2026
Last week, several of our team supported the Women in Law Association (WILA) Feminist Moot at the University of Waikato.
A huge thank you to Kate Cornegé, Morgan Brady, Natasha Alley, Ella Burney, Jordan Graham and Lauren Aplin for giving their time and expertise as judges across several days of the competition.
The moot problem involved alleged discrimination on the basis of s*x under the NZBORA, which is topical given the recent success in the NZ College of Midwives case. The students presented engaging submissions and displayed strong advocacy skills throughout the competition.
Giving back to the next generation of legal professionals is something we value strongly at Tompkins Wake, and it was fantastic to see our team supporting students as they developed their advocacy and legal reasoning skills.
Congratulations to this year’s winners:
🏆 Rangimarie Croft – Junior Respondent for the Finals, a second-year Bachelor of Laws student from Northland
🏆 Kate Monsma – Junior Appellant, a second-year conjoint Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business student majoring in Economics from Hamilton
A big thank you as well to the students from WILA who did an excellent job of running the competition, and to everyone involved in making the event such a success. Tompkins Wake is proud to continue sponsoring initiatives like the Feminist Moot that help shape the future of the legal profession.
Congratulations to Daniel Erickson on being named a Leading Employment Lawyer in New Zealand — 's Guide 2026.
Tompkins Wake has also been recognised as a Recommended Firm in the Leading Employment & WHS Law Firms rankings.
A well-earned result for Daniel and the wider employment team.
