One of Nelson's most beautiful villas got a partial house wash today(the rest will be done once scaffolding goes up) in preparation for a fresh coat of paint from Elite Painters. As so often happens with weatherboard houses, the difference after a soft wash and light pressure rinse is amazing. The pictures don't really do justice to the change !

A beautiful weatherboard villa in Nelson came up really nicely after cleaning the decks, paths and wooden stairs. These types of homes generally show the most marked difference after a house wash as the dirt and grime collects on the underside of the boards. There’s nothing quite like a happy owner’s face when they see the huge difference a simple house wash can make.

A lot of care has to be taken though. The weatherboards edges are easy to flake if you get too much pressure on them so our preferred option is soft wash with brushes and a light rinse. If we do decide it can stand up to a light water blast we can adjust both the water pressure on the machine and the type of nozzle we use. Same goes for the window frames, as even modern ones never mind wooden sash windows, are not really designed to stand up to pressurised water jets.

Anyway, a long day and a bit but very happy with the result.
