🥁A little bit of exciting news 🥁

Books & Admin has been named a finalist for the Community Contributor of the Year award.

"At the end of the day, I am not changing the world. The people I support are doing that. I am simply helping take some of the weight off their shoulders so they can keep doing the work that matters."

I still believe every word.

If I have the skills to help, why wouldn't I?

Winning would be lovely, but I already feel lucky to do the work I do and to be part of such an amazing community.

Congratulations to all the finalists, and thank you to the Institute of Certified NZ Bookkeepers for the recognition.

I'm looking forward to celebrating with everyone on awards night after two days of learning at the conference. 🌻

Some people think bookkeeping is just pushing buttons in Xero all day.

Xero records the numbers.

I read the story.

The story might say:

• You're growing faster than you realise
• Cashflow is tighter than it should be
• Your prices haven't kept up with your costs
• One service is making far more money than the others
• It's time to hire
• It's time to slow down

Every month, businesses leave clues in their numbers.

Those clues don't jump off the page.

You have to ask questions.

Look for patterns.

Understand what changed.

Join the dots.

One conversation can completely change how a business owner sees their business.

One small insight can lead to a better decision.

That's the value hidden behind a profit and loss report.

𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐨.

Have a wonderful Monday everyone. 🌻

💰 "We've had a great month. So why is there no money in the bank?"

This is one of the most common questions I hear from business owners.

The answer is usually that profit and cash are two different things.

You might have:

• Customers who haven't paid their invoices yet
• GST sitting there waiting for the IRD
• Loan repayments coming out of the account
• Stock purchased for future sales
• Equipment bought for the business

The business may be performing well, but the cash hasn't caught up yet.

That's why I encourage clients to look at both their Profit & Loss report and their bank balance.

One tells you how the business is performing.

The other tells you what cash is available today.

Understanding the difference can help avoid surprises and make planning a lot easier.

Have you ever looked at your profit and wondered where the money went?
