Nelson and Tasman’s coastline is one of our region’s greatest treasures. From fishing in Tasman Bay to exploring the Abel Tasman National Park waters, boating is woven into our community’s lifestyle. But with this privilege comes responsibility. 🛟 Every year, preventable boating incidents affect families in our region. Many of these could be avoided with proper safety equipment, knowledge of local conditions, and well-maintained vessels. That’s why we’re bringing together maritime experts, safety professionals, and experienced boaties to help you prepare for the season ahead. Join us for our comprehensive Marine Expo Day, where getting boat-ready is easy, informative, and completely free: • Free safety checks • Bring your lifejackets for a free inspection • Information on locator beacons and use of marine radio • Demonstrations • Nautical street market • Display boats and vessel tours • BBQ koha • Local regulations and conditions information – Nelson and Tasman • Inflatable life raft demonstration at 12:00/midday Plus, there’s discounts on safety gear, giveaways, and some great prizes to be won! Parking is available off-street and along Akersten Street. Active transport is encouraged along the new Marine Parade. Let’s make this our safest boating season yet. See you there!
