One act of thanksgiving is all it takes as the sun creeps above the distant hills, the water soaks into the earth as I’m watering in the fields, the chorus of bird song, I am savouring long what the present holds: joy is the realist reality, the fullest days. Just in time for Christmas bouquets and decorations. At least here in the Nelson area.

No stop dates to remember

Pests mostly leave her alone

Not picky about daylight like some of our autumn queens

She’s a strong, reliable friend in the garden. Plant her close for nice 50–90cm stems for cutting, or give her room to bush out for a garden feature. After this first flush of blooms, just prune her back near ground level, feed, water (but not too much!), and get ready for a second burst of flowers in February.

We’re excited to see how Muriel is behaving in gardens around NZ — so tell us… is she blooming in yours yet?
