This piece was partially buried, its warm glow had caught my eye, I gingerly picked it up thinking it was the usual common Amber colour, I held it up to inspect its shape and quite literally screamed "WHAT?!?!" when I realised its colour! 🤣 What a smashing find!!! 🏆

Black Seaglass, aka "Pirate Glass" is quite rare and difficult to find, often mistaken for a dark pebble. Pirate glass is ancient seaglass from the 16th to 19th centuries, often appearing black but actually being deep green or brown. Named for the thick, dark bottles used to transport rum, this glass was designed to protect contents from light and endure harsh sea conditions, making it heavy and durable.
