Well Homes
30/04/2026
Last week, Lynda Ryan, Manager of Homelessness Prevention Services, came and shared with us here at Kōkiri Marae Health & Social Services Hauora about the amazing mahi their team is doing to support whānau.
This week it was our turn 🙌🏽
Tu Kotahi Māori Asthma Trust and Well Homes came together to host a hui with the Homelessness Prevention team, to further share and strengthen understanding of our services.
It was a great afternoon of learning, connecting and sharing kōrero, building those relationships so we can better support our whānau together 🤝🏽
Stronger together for our people 💛

Well Homes had the absolute privilege of spending time with the beautiful rōpū Te Mauri, where we shared and presented our Well Homes and Tiaki Mahana programmes.
Te Mauri is a truly special kaupapa, supported by Kōkiri Marae Health and Social Services and delivered by the Mana Wāhine team. It provides a safe, nurturing space for whānau Māori experiencing cancer, alongside their wider whānau and support people, to come together, share their journeys, and uplift one another.
Grounded in mātauranga Māori, Te Mauri is guided by whakapapa, pūrakau, and kaitiakitanga. It recognises that healing is not just physical, but a wairua journey supporting whānau through connection, understanding, and transformation toward mauri ora.
It was humbling to sit alongside this incredible group, hearing stories, sharing kōrero, laughter, and even tears. Spaces like this are so important, where whānau can feel safe to express themselves and simply be, while also enjoying kai together.
Te Mauri continues to walk alongside whānau at all stages of their cancer journey, from early concerns and diagnosis through to treatment and beyond. The rōpū runs fortnightly, rotating between Pito-one (Whare Raumati, Hikoikoi) and Porirua (Mary Potter Hospice, Ranui Heights).
We are so grateful to have been welcomed into this space and to share how Well Homes and Tiaki Mahana can support warm, dry, and healthy homes, because housing is health, especially for our most vulnerable whānau.
If you or someone you know could benefit from this kaupapa, kōrero with your GP or Nurse Practitioner about a referral.
Mauri Ora ❤️
