What a night Welly!
Special thanks to Sam from Imperial Slave for having us and Skull Fragments for opening the night.

The Welly crowd was out nice an early to a packed house at Valhalla to support Skull Fragments delivering their sludge fest with some screamo, slightly sexual vocals! Then we go on stage to deliver our no fn around 'No fluff' set. What a blast!
Followed by the Kiwi metal legends Imperial Slave who delivered their brutal thrashy fast paced death metal inspired anthems.
Pro musco's delivering the best on offer was an absolute treat.
The guitar solos were a highlight for me. Very rare to see such talent from both guitarists shredding on stage.

Japan is in for a treat, and having these guys represent us over there is just right. Buy their merch, like/follow their page and help support Kiwis sharing their music world wide.

Here is a little bit of a review I put together from our gig with Shepherds Reign @ San Fran 9th August 2024.

As soon as their recorded intro started the room could tell something huge was coming.
SR's fanbase is well represented by every member of society.
Music is for everyone and if it brings us together as one, you are definitely writing great music.

What a way to start a show!
What came next was a collection of influences from System of a Down, Disturbed and Dream Theatre, and everything else outside of the 'mainstream' you can think of.
Put in a melting pot of Samoan and South Auckland styles and then shaken.

So many rock and metal bands these days their first, middle and last songs all sound the same. Not with SR. Yes they always keep the groove. But they get more melodic, then heavier and even throw in a few guitar battles that would make John Petrucci proud.
The cymbal accents following the guitars really stood out. What a drummer. He has it all. The groove, the harcore and the polite.
The massive vocal choruses and the chants! CHEE HOO!
And don't forget about the Pate (wooden drum) and the keytar. Gimmicky doesn't even get a look in. Unique and delivering another layer to their already huge sound is what these not so common instruments add.
Having 5 muscos on stage definitely makes for a big sound.
These guys are extremely well rehearsed. Their passion for their music is well evident in the way the songs have been put together, where every band member has a role in creating the Shepherds Reign Sound. Catchy, groovy, thrashy, cultural...so many ways to describe their sound.

Filiva’a James (vocals and keytar), Gideon Voon (guitar), Oliver Leupolu (guitar/production), Shaymen Rameka (drums) and Joseph Oti-George (bass) - These dudes stuck around after the show for hordes of fans wanting photos and signatures. They delivered. Some of the most chilled out and approachable muscos I have met.
The punters love SR, the hype is real. I'm now also a fan.
