You spend half your day stepping up into forks or dropping into a deep squat to tie in. If your pants keep blowing out at the crotch, the problem usually starts with the rise.

Street pants sit low on the hips. When you climb, a low rise forces all that movement stress straight into the crotch seam. Arborist pants need a higher rise to give you the extra fabric your hips need to move. Before you buy a pair, drop into a full squat and feel for any pulling at the seam.

If it feels tight on the ground, it will tear in the tree. How do you test your gear before committing to it?
