Today I’m out with the rootstock, cutting, and de-eyeing in preparation for the next generation of roses. It’s meticulous work, but it’s an essential step in producing strong, healthy plants.
What many people don’t realise is that a rose doesn’t go from cutting to garden centre overnight. From preparing the rootstock to budding, growing, and nurturing the finished plant, it’s a process that takes around two years before a rose is ready for its new home.
