The Hamilton Anglers Club
07/07/2026
The 3rd evening of the HAC winter flying was a quieter affair with some old heads coming out of the woodwork and one first time tier. 2 variations of a rubber legged stonefly, one on a jig hook for the euro nymphers and the double beeded beast for the Taupo indicator heavers. Now rubber legs are a challenge to tie in for an experienced tier so Mr noobs had his hands full yet did surprisingly well, check out the photo showing the sample fly and the one he tied. And the old heads learnt a trick or two as always. Next evening is Monday the 13th, $10 members, $20 non members and we will be tying dry flies for local streams. If anyone has experienced Waikato trout on passion vine hoppers or willow grubs you will know how selective these normally un-selective trout can be.
