Just a wee bit proud today. akB was incorporated as a company February 10, 1999. Over 26 years we have had the absolute pleasure to work with so many wonderful clients and professional service providers. Our very first conference client in 2001 was NZSSD - New Zealand Society for the Study of Diabetes. NZSSD is still one of our anchor clients and is very close to my heart being that for 46 years I've had T1D and they educate, research, adovcate for the condition which has seen amazing advances since my dx in 1979.
Thank you to everyone who has been on this akB journey with me. You have all played a significant part in our survival and success.
Tonight I attended a workshop where someone challenged me on how business events benefit the community. A big inhale and sigh then a brief explanation on the multiplier effect of money spent in a community from attendees.
Every city needs community and social events* because the benefits and legacy to our communities are inmeasurable I just ask that people don't dismiss Business Events as a major benefit to every community... the word business seems to inject an irrational fear in people but we are bigger than that.
One of my clients, who I've been delivering conferences for since 2002, has been instrumental in getting Pharmac to fund CGMs and insulin Pumps for people living with Type1 Diabetes the surplus they generate from their conferences allows them to do this through education and advocacy.
