๐คLooking for that perfect reward to celebrate an achievement?
While we all enjoy having our successes acknowledged ๐คฉโญ๏ธ๐....our young ones (and us not so young ones!) don't need to be given sweet treats to feel good about what they've achieved. Instead, why not try some of the many age-appropriate activities, experiences and small items that can make the perfect reward choice โ
๐๐
So next time why not give some of these great non-food reward ideas a go. Not only will they put a smile of their face, but it will keep their teeth happy and healthy too - that's a real win-win!! ๐๐๐ฆท๐

It's World Smokefree May, a month to celebrate being smokefree - for our health, our wallets and our environment โ
๐ฅณ๐ฒ๐
Being smokefree is an important step to keep our smiles happy and healthy๐๐ as we are less likely to have problems with our teeth and mouth that can be caused by smoking, like:
๐ gum disease
๐ mouth cancers
๐ tooth decay and loss of teeth
๐ losing our taste
๐ stained teeth and bad breath
๐ mouth sores
๐ trouble healing after dental treatments
So let's celebrate being smokefree, and remember, it is never too late to quit smoking and start the smokefree journey! ๐คฉ๐ฅณ๐ซถ๐ฃ
Go to Smokefree South on FB for more info, tips and and how to get support to quit.

How many times do you eat or drink each day? ๐ค
Did you know that HOW OFTEN we eat is as important as WHAT we eat to keep our teeth happy and healthy?! ๐ฎ๐ฝโฐ
The more times we eat during the day, including any drinks other than plain water or plain milk, the higher our risk of tooth decay (holes in our teeth).
Every time we eat, a type of bacteria ๐ฆ in our mouth produces acid, which can eat away at our tooth enamel. Over time, especially if we snack often during the day, our teeth can no longer replace that lost tooth enamel....so we end up with holes in our teeth โณ๐
So 'give your teeth a rest' by eating main meals (and a healthy snack in between if needed) to keep you feeling full for longer so you are eating less often during the day - your teeth and smile will thank you for it ๐๐๐ซถ๐ฉท

As we honour those who lost their lives to war, and our returned and serving servicemen and women, we also acknowledge the New Zealand Dental Corps for the dental care provided to our soldiers.
