A very warm welcome to and , the artists behind ‘Green-screened’.

You can meet Wesley and Ngā Roma at their en plain air drawing session this Sat 4 Feb, 2pm - 4pm. We will meet at Wave and walk to Woodhaugh Gardens from there.

A bit more about the artists -

He uri tēnei nō Te Ātihaunui-a-Pāpārangi, Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāpuhi, ko Ngā Roma Poa tōku ingoa.

Ngā Roma is from Whanganui and is currently based in Auckland. She acknowledges that her practice is ultimately led by a level of playfulness in unpacking ideas, locating the irony or tension in conversations. Her creative practice has shifted between painting, illustration, photography, and spatial design. A combination of interests essentially embodying recurring elements of lightplay, color-theory and composition. More recently her playfulness has led her to foraging and crafting natural pigments- an immersive creative process in understanding the whakapapa (origin/genealogy) and narrative of her medium.

Wesley John Fourie is a multi award winning emerging artist based in Aotearoa New Zealand who’s work explores themes of nature, spirituality, and sexuality through use of textiles, often manifesting as large scale “soft sculptures”. They are interested in exploring scale as a lens through which to process data, which usually result in 1/1 hand knit scale models of natural objects. They also use embroidery as a vehicle for art making, creating ephemeral, highly emotive textile installations which explore themes of love, loss, and q***r sexuality, alongside installations of native flora.

Thanks again to the Dunedin City Council Arts Grant for making this project possible 💖
