Morning team. A good flush of water hit the Tongariro over night with a peak at around 317 cumecs of flow and with the forecast promising sun for the week ahead it might be time to develop a sniffle and let the boss know you wont be in for a smidge.
I'm looking forward to swinging some flies and feeling that line tighten as a fat rainbow latches on to the big cone head rabbit pattern. π€π£π
How about you? What technique are you rolling with this winter??

Afternoon team. The rains finally arrived to the Central Plateau and it looks like winter has kicked off. There is more rain on the way toward the end of the week for Turangi ans I'm looking forward to getting back down there and having a crack at some of the rolling chrome.
We have the shop here in Auckland prepped with winter flies and todays video highlights some of the more useful patterns for anglers visiting the Taupo fishery over the next few months.
Morning team. I hope everyone has some amazing plans for the long weekend. We will be open through the weekend and closed Monday to go hang out with the King and smash some shots for his birthday.
We have just topped up the saltwater fly line wall and shes looking sharp with a new addition the RIO PRODUCTS Premier Striper Coldwater 30ft Sink Tip Fly Line in 250gr 7/8wt, 300gr 8/9wt & 350gr 9/10wt. This is a saltwater line but it is actually a super option for wetlining the Tongariro this winter woth some fast sink rates across the size lineup.

Frank has been getting out of town to throw down with some feisty browns, doing day trips and overnight missions and getting friends into the sport of fly fishing.
It's always good to hear what Frank has been up to when he pops into the store. π£ππ€

Morning all. It was good to wake up this morning and take a stroll on the Tongariro, it charges your batteries ready to smash the first coffee of the day from the crew at Delta Coffee Turangi then hunt winter runners as they search for tiny hooks dressed in feathers, furs and chenilles just above thr river bed.

Kyle headed away for a weekend searching new water in the hills for some late season backcountry action as we rolled into late Autumn and like most of the last month it proved to be much more settled weather than summer, a smidge cooler and more wader appropriate but calm and rain free.
Fish were found more in the riffled water than pools and action was on the nymph, very light weighted and plain nymphs, the AP Nymph hooking the fish in the photo under a very small indicator.
Superb work Kyle, loving hearing how your fly fishing is progressing with every visit to the shop shop.
