Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV)
Important Notice from Immigration New Zealand
Effective 1 June 2026, the minimum English language requirement has been extended. It now includes ANZSCO and NOL Skill Level 3 occupations, in addition to the existing Skill Levels 4 and 5.
👥 Who is Affected?
ï‚· New AEWV Applicants: Anyone applying for roles classified under Skill Levels 3, 4, and 5.
ï‚· Requirement: You must provide evidence of English proficiency at the time of application unless you qualify for specific exemptions (such as eligible citizenship, study, or work experience).
🎯 Why the Change?
This extension ensures migrant workers can communicate effectively, fully understand their employment rights, and smoothly integrate into New Zealand workplaces and local communities.
📊 Accepted English Test Scores
English Language Test Minimum Score Required
IELTS (Academic or General) Overall Band Score 4.0 or higher
PTE Academic Overall Score 29 or higher
TOEFL iBT Overall Score 31 or higher
Cambridge B2 First Overall Score 142 or higher
OET Grade D or higher in all four skills
