The gang is back for a new season....

BRAD KROEF WINS, COLLINSON 2nd, SPARROW FLIES INTO 3rd
Brad Kroef triumphed again but it’s already evident he’ll have to work harder this season. With so many new factors – a rookie driver, a new ute and the NI Sixes right behind them, Race One was going to answer a lot of questions.

Rookie Mitch Sparrow mounted a serious challenge the whole race. Sparrow flew around Kroef on turn one, lap one, from there it was game on. Just behind them, Glen Collinson eventually got Daniel Ludlam and was ready to pounce.

Phill Ross had a great start leaping from 7th to 4th all on the first lap, also getting around Daniel Ludlam. Lap after lap the leaders were separated by barely a second. Then they encountered lapped traffic catching passing the NI Sixes.

Collinson snatched 2nd when Sparrow went wide on the final turn into the main straight late in the race. That’s how the final podium places finished with Phill Ross a comfortable 4th . Also on a great charge Jeremy Hunt moved up from 12th to finish 9th. Great driving.

Clearly, Mitch Sparrow is taking the pressure in his stride. After the race he confessed, “It was a wide blue ute up in front, “ referring to Brad Kroef’s defensive driving skills holding onto in the lead. “But it was fun.”

With a reverse grid Race Two tomorrow, prepare for another overtaking exhibition.

BRAD WINS RACE ONE, BUT THE SERIES POINTS ARE GETTING CLOSER.

Race One was an absolute thriller with Brad Kroef finishing on top. A gentleman’s agreement saw top qualifier Brad Wenzlick opting to start down in 12th to allow the series leaders to scrap it out unhindered. But he didn’t sit there for long. Here’s what happened.

After starting 2nd, Glen Collinson got around Brad Kroef coming into the first corner, but Brad Kroef wasn’t relenting. Brad regained the lead on lap 6, and hung on. Meanwhile, Brad Wenzlick was diligently slicing through the mid-field.

Brad Kroef and Glen Collinson swapped positions twice more during the race, but by Lap 9 Brad Wenzlick was their major concern. At the chequered flag, just .6 seconds separated the front 3. Tight.

“I didn’t want to ruin it for them... (Glen & Brad) up front,” Brad confessed after the race. “But if I had another lap I’d have given it a crack.” He said with a wry smile.

Another performance of note was newcomer Mitch Sparrow. “I had a rookie moment. I left the reverse switch up and had no 5th gear for the first 5 laps.” Noneless he managed to hold 6th place.

Greg Kroef was hampered by a misfire, relegating him to 14th. Rest assured Vince Gee is onto it. “We’re going to change some s**t to eliminate the problem.”

All this Race One action has created a logjam in the points race. meaning the series winners will all be decided in Race Two. Let’s see who’s firing on all cylinders.
