A simple timber box form that appears to float—clad in a rainscreen system that neatly conceals the services. Integrated cedar shutters hide full-height windows, which slide into a concealed cavity behind the rainscreeen. Cedar soffit and ceiling panelling enhance the sense of being immersed in nature.

Te Arai Beach House by Fearon Hay – Among the dunes and pine forest sits a contemporary timber cabin.
Cedar cladding and roofing weather to a silver-grey over time, helping the building settle into its surroundings. Inside, the use of cedar continues, creating a unified feel and softening the transition between indoors and out. The timber is oiled to add warmth, richness, and a cosy atmosphere. Sliding cedar shutters control light, air, views, and privacy.

• Coated in Dryden WoodOil Platinum
• Cavity battens and fixings

Everyone accepts that rules are necessary but that doesn’t stop them being a drag on time and budgets. That’s when our compliant systems really come into their own. Especially when the Building Code changes. As soon as we get wind of changes coming we’re on the tools, checking our systems and making any necessary adjustments to ensure there are no holdups in the supply chain.
