Happy Monday from all at Project Employ and Flourish Cafe!

Today we’re doing a huge shout out of thanks to Sky City Community Trust. After seeing the impact our training and employment programmes are having on so many neurodiverse young adults, employers, and the wider community, they have awarded us a multi year grant 👏👏

This generous grant will help us increase the number of trainees learning in our Flourish Cafes; extend our hospitality and employability workshops; and provide more 1:1 Job Coach support.

It will enable our employment team to work alongside more businseses as they navigate hiring a more diverse workforce; and help us continue creating regular, natural interactions between our trainees and the local community.

So, on behalf of our 48 graduates, 11 current trainees, and all the neurodiverse young adults that we’re yet to have the pleasure of meeting, thank you Sky City Community Trust 🙏🙏

We were lucky enough to have .o_o visit the café today!

James, Noah, and Abby enjoyed telling Atlanta what it’s like to be a Project Employ trainee, and shared their hopes and dreams for the future 🙌🏻🩵

We could not be prouder to see Project Employ graduate Liam officially hired by Sudima Hotels Auckland City after completing his internship through Sudima Hotel’s Open Doors programme 🎉

Liam is the first Project Employ graduate to move through Sudima’s internship pathway at the city hotel, which feels pretty special to see.

What’s been great about this partnership is the focus on creating genuine pathways into employment without many of the usual hiring barriers. When young disabled and neurodivergent people are given the right environment, support, and time to build confidence, they thrive.

Liam has worked hard for this opportunity and it’s been awesome watching his growth throughout the Project Employ training programme, internship and into paid employment.

Big thanks to the team at Sudima for continuing to approach inclusive hiring in such a flexible, practical and intentional way. 🫶

Here’s to more opportunities and more employers willing to think differently 👏
