💗 Pink Shirt Day is more than wearing pink.
It’s standing beside disabled children who are too often misunderstood, excluded, or bullied simply for existing differently.
At SPECTROOM, we will always advocate for a world where neurodivergent and disabled tamariki feel safe to stim, communicate differently, move differently, and be fully themselves without shame.
Kindness changes lives. Inclusion saves lives. 💗

A movie experience made to feel safe, not overwhelming.
We’re teaming up with and to host a Sensory Screening of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, designed with our community in mind.
Lower volume. Lights on. Freedom to move, play, and enjoy the film in a way that works for your child, not against them.
There’ll also be a sensory play area and a few giveaways, so families can settle in however they need.
No pressure. No judgement. Just a space where everyone belongs💙

Elopement is a real and often misunderstood behaviour in the autistic community ♾️
It isn’t about disobedience, it’s often a response to sensory sensitivity, curiosity, or a need to escape or seek something specific.
Because it can happen suddenly and without warning, awareness from the wider community is important.
Knowing what to look for, and how to respond, can help prevent dangerous situations and support safer environments for everyone💙

Mental overload isn’t always obvious.
It can look like silence.
It can look like withdrawal.
It can look like “not listening.”
But often, it’s the brain trying to manage
more than it can comfortably process.
For many autistic individuals, especially in busy or noisy environments, this isn’t occasional, it’s constant.
