Why risk is higher: Hepatitis B is more common among Pacific peoples, and chronic infection can damage the liver over time.

How to reduce risk:

✅ Get tested for Hepatitis B and C. If positive, your doctor can monitor and treat it.

💉 Ensure you’re vaccinated against Hepatitis B (many Pacific adults missed childhood vaccination).

🚫 Limit alcohol — heavy drinking increases liver damage.

🍎 Maintain a healthy weight and manage diabetes, as fatty liver disease also raises risk.

🩸 Regular liver checks (blood tests and ultrasound) if you have risk factors.
