What makes Kailash Yatra so special ?
Mt Kailash is hidden in the trans-Himalayan region amid the wild western Tibetan plateau. From the time immemorial, the region of Mt Kailash and Lake Manasarovar was accessed only by Shiddas. The Mountain stands like a giant Shiva Linga and drains to Lake Manasarovar.
The Manasarovar and Rakshastal lakes are the sources of four rivers: Indus, Sutlej, Brahmaputra, and Karnali lie in the vicinity of the region. Mount Kailash is sacred in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Bon religion. People from India, China, Nepal and other countries in the region undertake a pilgrimage to the mountain. The pilgrimage generally involves trekking towards Lake Mansarovar and a circumambulation of Mount Kailash.

Shamanism in Nepal
Visit the Kumbeshwar temple in Patan during the Janai Purnima festival to witness the Shamans in their ceremonial practices. Shamanism broadly encompasses various belief systems that involve direct communication with deities or spirits through altered states of consciousness. On the day of Janai Purnima, which occurs on the full moon in August, Shamans rhythmically beat their 'Dhyangro' drums as they proceed to the Shiva temple. This occasion is regarded as particularly auspicious for initiating the study of shamanism, with established Shamans selecting students to be brought to the temple for this purpose.
