I sincerely request all parents and guardians to refrain from comparing your ward’s results with those of others.
Please Remember:
• Every child is unique.
•They possess different levels of interest.
• They have distinct strengths and weaknesses.
Instead of Comparing, Please:
• Set personal benchmarks based on their own progress.
• Encourage them to identify and overcome their weaknesses.
• Praise their strengths and unique talents.
• Avoid setting unrealistic expectations that lead to undue pressure.
• Provide unconditional love and support, regardless of the outcome.
Comparison achieves nothing; rather, it:
• Lowers self-esteem and diminishes self-worth.
• Causes children to withdraw from social situations.
• Can lead to a defiant or "carefree" attitude as a defense mechanism.
• Suppresses natural talents that don't show up on a report card.
• Creates distance between you and your child.
• Fosters unhealthy rivalry among siblings and cousins.
