Hangul, also known as Hangeul, is the alphabet used to write the Korean language. It was created by King Sejong the Great and his scholars in the 15th century and is considered one of the most scientific and efficient alphabets in the world. Hangul consists of 24 letters: 14 consonants and 10 vowels. The letters are designed to represent the shape of the speech organs and the sounds they produce. It is a phonetic alphabet, which means that each letter corresponds to a specific sound. Hangul is easy to learn and is credited with increasing literacy rates in Korea. It is widely regarded as a cultural treasure and is celebrated each year on Hangul Day, which falls on October 9th.
