Today I watched a video where a random man tried to interrupt and insult Mahabir Pun.

And honestly, it made me angry.

Not because Mahabir Pun cannot handle criticism, great people always face criticism.
But because sometimes we forget who we are talking to.

This is the same Mahabir Pun who spent decades walking through remote villages of Nepal trying to bring internet connectivity when the government itself had not even imagined it.

The same Mahabir Pun who started the Nepal Wireless Networking Project, connecting rural schools and health posts long before “digital Nepal” became a slogan.

The same Mahabir Pun who won the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2007, one of Asia’s most respected recognitions.

The same Mahabir Pun who later founded the National Innovation Center, pushing for research, technology, and innovation inside Nepal when most people were busy leaving the country.

A man who literally sold books himself to raise funds for innovation and development.
And yet someone thought shouting at him in the street would somehow make them look smart.

Criticism is fine. Debate is healthy.
But disrespect toward someone who has already given so much to this country only exposes our own lack of awareness.

Sir Mahabir Pun,

I’m sorry you had to face that moment.

For many of us, your decades of work, persistence, and sacrifice for Nepal will always command deep respect.

Some people may shout for a few seconds.
But your work will speak for generations.
