Effectiveness of App-Delivered Self-management Support for Lower Back Pain–Related Disability This randomized clinical trial examines a decision support tool that provides lower back pain information and self-management recommendations that are specific to an individual’s characteristics, symptoms, and symptom progression.

The Danish Physiotherapy Association hosted a national conference on advances and research in Physiotherapy both internationally and nationally at the Institut for Idræt og Biomekanik, Syddansk Universitet. At the conference Prof. Per Kjær mediated a workshop on rehabilitation using robots, sensors, play with interactive toys and apps. The workshop consisted of 4 short presentations, where senior research Charlotte Nørregaard Rasmussen presented SELFBACK, with a focus on the theoretical basis for the intervention and how the intervention has been developed using an intervention mapping process. Following the presentations, the workshop participants had opportunity to attend a SHOW & TELL session, where they could see and use the SELFBACK app and Mi Fit activity tracking wristbands, and ask questions about the project to Charlotte and Louise Sandal. The workshop participants where positive towards implementing apps, like the SELFBACK app, into their work as supplement to their existing treatment routines. Also, there was a great interest in how patients interact with the app, how the app tailors the self-management content to the individual patient and which role clinicians like physiotherapists can play in this setting. The conference had 1200 participants and about 120 participants attended the workshop.
