Jæren isn’t just soft fields and sea air.
Fotlandfossen cuts through that calm with force.
No drama, just presence.

Vigdel at sunset doesn’t need to perform.
No drama, no filter — just wind, sand, and light folding into the sea.

Varhaug gamle kirkegård (old cemetary) is a cemetary that's sited in mouth of the North Sea at the farm Varhaug in Hå municipality in the county of Rogaland. The cemetary is dates back to the middle ages, around 13th. century BC. Around that time the first church was erected there, and there is much that points to that it was built on top of a heathen site of worship. Several different churches have been built on the cemetary grounds up through the ages. The old church was demolished in 1905, and the a new church was erected at Odland.
Just off the coast here, there was a shipwreck in 1842 that claimed 389 Russian lives. Most were buried in Varhaug old cemetery that is listed. It is also erected a memorial to the Russians and the "sjøfolk som her fikk sin grav (sailors who here made his grave) " in 1966.

Jæren, still stripped bare.
But look closer—
a graveyard windswept by salt air,
waterfalls hiding in plain sight,
a beach that doesn’t beg for postcards,
a forest holding its breath.

Varhaug, Kvassheim, Holmaholen, Fotland.
Edges, echoes, and everything in between.

Frafjord, Gjesdal
Same gorge, different view.
No waterfall in frame—
just the spray rising,
a ghost of the force below.
Caught in it, a rainbow: brief, bending, barely there.
Proof that even in stone and shadow, light finds a way.
