Pipeweld.ee
Only in the last 4 years have we started developing our own workshop in Estonia.
Before that, for 18 years, we worked exclusively on client sites as an installation company specializing in industrial piping and welding.
During these 4 years, we made an interesting observation.
🔹 Site work and workshop work are two different worlds
We realized that installation work on site and fabrication work in a workshop require different mindsets.
And in many cases — different types of people.
In the workshop:
• Work is more structured and steady
• Specialists are often highly focused in a narrow field
• Deep expertise in their specific area
• Very demanding regarding standards and precision
• Sometimes less flexible in discussions
On site:
• People tend to be more adaptable
• Broader understanding of the overall process
• Strong awareness of related disciplines
• High focus on safety
• More open to compromise and practical solutions
⸻
What did we decide?
We concluded that it makes sense to periodically send workshop employees to work on construction sites.
🎯 The goal is not to solve manpower shortages, but to:
• Increase creativity
• Improve flexibility
• Strengthen understanding of the full cycle — from prefabrication to installation
• Remove internal barriers between teams
When a workshop specialist sees how a “perfect” prefabricated spool behaves under real site conditions, the approach to fabrication changes.
And when a site installer works in the workshop, they gain a deeper respect for tolerances, preparation, and welding quality.
Over the past 4 years, this exchange has brought more value than we expected.
