Diversion Tunnel-1 | Diamer Bhasha Dam (4500MW)

Diversion Tunnel-1 is a key underground structure at the Diamer Bhasha Dam, constructed to divert river flow during the dam’s construction phase. The tunnel has an underground length of about 724 meters with a large excavation cross-section of approximately 16 × 16.9 m, enabling safe and efficient water passage.

Breakthrough of the diversion tunnel heading section, including the transition portion, has been successfully achieved at Diamer Bhasha Dam through the efforts of a dedicated project team.

This milestone supports safe construction progress on one of Pakistan’s most important hydropower projects.
