Tengbeh Kamara () is one of FOTODOK’s nominees for FUTURES () 2026. A Dutch-Liberian photographer based in Amsterdam, Kamara’s portrait and documentary practice explores intimacy, memory, and identity through personal, social, and political perspectives.
Their ongoing project “Why You Left, Who You Left” draws from their family history, following their father’s journey from fleeing the Liberian civil war to rebuilding a life in the Netherlands and later returning to Liberia. The work examines migration, belonging, responsibility, and absence through the experiences of both those who leave and those who remain.
Blending personal narrative with broader social questions, Kamara’s photography challenges simplified ideas of migration and return. Their intimate and critical approach brings overlooked stories into focus, exploring identity, family, and the lasting effects of choices made across borders.

FOTODOK presents “A Spell Bundle – Manifesting Q***r Futurity” at Clublokaal () as part of the 12th edition of the BredaPhoto Festival (), on view from 11 September until 25 October 2026.
Inspired by José Esteban Muñoz’s “Cruising Utopia: The Then and There of Q***r Futurity” (2009), the exhibition reflects on q***r futurity as a way to imagine and shape more just, inclusive, and joyful worlds beyond the present. In a time of rising anti-q***r and fascist rhetoric, this act of imagining becomes a form of resistance and collective world-building.
The exhibition brings together the work of Donja Nasseri (), Ebun Sodipo (), Julius Thissen (), Nayara Leite (), and S*an D. Henry-Smith. Their practices weave together personal narratives, political urgencies, and archival research, engaging q***r histories and futures as intertwined. Across their works, q***rness becomes a means to summon alternative ways of living, relating, and remembering.
Together, they form a “spell bundle”: a set of material, emotional, and political strategies for survival, care, and transformation—building shelter against erasure while holding space for q***r possibility.

We’re excited to share that Kevin Osepa ()’s first solo exhibition abroad, “Ocho Día. Eight Days, Nine Nights”, will be on view at the Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb () from 11 June – 6 September 2026 as part of the 14th edition of Organ Vida Festival ().
Through photography, video, personal objects, and artefacts, Osepa explores themes of ritual, collective mourning, memory, and spirituality rooted in Curaçao’s Afro-Caribbean traditions. The exhibition creates an immersive space where the boundaries between the everyday and the sacred begin to blur.
“Ocho Día. Eight Days, Nine Nights” is guided by Osepa’s ongoing research into the gradual loss of ritual traditions in Curaçao and invites visitors into a contemplative encounter with grief, remembrance, and belonging.
FOTODOK is proud to support this exhibition in a facilitating role.
