Can the aura of a work of art be captured?
𝗔𝘂𝗿𝗮 by Gabriela Acha, tries to find out.

Together with my dad — who rebuilt a custom high-voltage setup inspired by the original Kirlian camera (developed in the early 1900s to photograph the energetic field of living and non-living matter) — they reimagined this experiment.

⚡ Coins, leafs, jewelry — every material reacted differently when exposed to the electric discharge. Some pulsed. Some resisted. Some glowed like tiny storms.

I filmed the process, and I’m sharing a few stills here.

𝕄𝔸𝕐 𝔹𝔼 - 𝘕𝘰 𝘗𝘭𝘦𝘹𝘶𝘴 🟢 To get this orbiting effect right, we tested frame rates, timing, and even calculated how fast our camera assistant should run — yes, we went that far.

After tests at and outside on the grass, we realized: over-planning kills the vibe. So we just went for simple clicktrack instructions but mostly to just flow — shoot, preview, shoot again.

Control vs. flow 🐂 They may be right? May… be.

𝙴𝚎𝚛𝚜𝚝𝚎 𝚂𝚞𝚋𝚜𝚝𝚊𝚌𝚔 📗 Techniek en podiumtradities zijn decennialang gedomineerd door mannen, maar langzaam ontstaat een verschuiving. Vrouwen stappen de crew in, de regie, de spot.

Ik geef mijn reflectie op die beweging – vanuit de lens waarmee ik film, en de ogen waarmee ik observeer. Dit is geen analyse, maar een ervaringsverslag. Vanuit de frontlinie, tussen de pyro's.
