■ Ism-e-Azam:

Bismillah Irehman Niraheem

Many people asking me Please, tell me in full detail about something called the 'Ism-e-Azam.'

Now full detail is not possible because it will take huge time to explain in detail.

But for Now, let me explain that term, because you need to understand it first.

"Ism" means "name."

"Azam" means "greatest" or "most magnificent."

So, "Ism-e-Azam" is "The Greatest Name."

In Islam, this is the most powerful and special name of Allah. The Islamic belief is that if someone calls upon Allah using this name, with full Yaqeen and sincerity, their prayer is always answered. So, that was the question: explain this Greatest Name completely.

There is a great Hanbali scholar and Wali Allah from long ago named Sidina Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani (Qaddasallahu Sirrahu). And what he said about the Greatest Name is, I think, the most beautiful thing. He said: If a person recites a name of Allah—the Lord, the Creator—in such a way that, at that very moment, there is nothing else in your heart except that name... no other thought, no worry, no desire, no wishes... then that very name becomes the Greatest Name for that person. So, the power doesn't just come from the name itself; it comes from your complete focus and your empty heart that is filled only with Allah.

Then Prophet Muhammad (Ṣallāllāhu 'alayhi wa 'alā ālihi wasallam) — said about this.

He told us that the Greatest Name is found in two chapters—or Surahs—of the Quran. The Quran is the holy book of Islam. The two chapters are called Surah Taha and Surah Al-Baqarah.

Now, in Surah Al-Baqarah, there is a very famous verse. It begins with:

Allahu la ilaha illa huwal Hayyul Qayyoom.

Let me explain these words one by one, so you understand fully.

· Allahu means "God."

· la ilaha illa huwa means there is no god but He. In other words, there is no one else worthy of worship except God.

· Al-Hayyul means the Ever-Living. The one who never dies.

· Al-Qayyoom means the Self-Subsisting. The one who sustains and runs everything, without needing any rest or sleep.

So that is a very powerful name. But then I want you to read carefully here—that there is another name that stands parallel to this one. It's a very, very big name. In reality, I would say there are actually two divine names of Allah, not just one.

And this is where I want to introduced a very important point about how the universe works.

There are two aspects to everything Allah does.

The first aspect I call the constructive universe. This is the creative side—the act of making, forming, and bringing things into existence. This is like the artist or the builder.

The second aspect I call the executive universe. This is the administrative or ruling side—the part that manages, controls, and runs everything after it has been created.

Now, I gave an example to make this clearer. Just imagine if a person joins a big organization like PIA, which is Pakistan International Airlines. Airport work. That person would not want to be a simple policeman, a watcher, right? He would want a higher, more powerful position. He would want to be in charge, to be an executive. People naturally like power and top management.

So, because of this, many people tend to call the names related to the executive aspect of Allah as the Greatest Name. They like the thought of a ruler, a king, a manager.

But after this something is very important: That is not the fact. That is not the reality.

The true fact, the real Greatest Name, is actually the creative one. And let me mention a long verse from the Quran to show you what it is.

This is from Surah Al-Baqarah, verses 163 and 164.

Let me tell you what this verse contains. It starts by saying:

"Wa ilahukum ilahun wahid, la ilaha illa huwar Rahmanur Rahim."

This means: "And your God is one God. There is no god but He, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful."

So, it confirms the oneness of God and gives two more beautiful names: Ar-Rahman (the Most Gracious) and Ar-Raheem (the Most Merciful).

Then the verse goes on to list so many things in creation. It talks about:

· The creation of the skies and the earth.

· The alternation of night and day—how they follow each other.

· The ships that sail in the sea, carrying things that benefit people.

· The rain that Allah sends down from the sky, which brings life back to dry, dead earth.

· All the different kinds of creatures and animals scattered on the earth.

· The changing of the winds.

· The clouds that are controlled and moved between the sky and the earth.

And the verse ends by saying that all of these are clear signs for people who think and use their reason.

Now, this is where I gave my main point.

I said: This is the true Greatest Name. This name covers the entire universe and all of creation. It was with this name that Allah created the skies and the earth. It was with this name that He made the clouds stand still and move. It was with this name that everything was determined and set in order. And I want to you a specific example: It was with this name that Prophet Suleman (Alayhissalām) was given the power to control the winds. So, this name covers what I call the 8 aspects of creation.

This is one Greatest Name.
This is Ism-e-Azam.

There is another Greatest Name and it is the executive one. And this is the famous verse known as Ayat-ul-Kursi, which is also in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 255.

It begins with the same words:

Allahu la ilaha illa huwal Hayyul Qayyoom

But here, the qualities are different. I explained that this verse describes God as the Ruler, the Owner, the Sovereign King. And because He is the ruler, sleep is not suitable for Him.

The verse says:

"La ta'khudhuhu sinatun wa la nawm"—which means, "Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him."

He is always awake, always managing.

Then it says: "Lahu ma fis-samawati wa ma fil-ard"—"To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth." Everything is His property.

So, I concluded: All the qualities in Ayat-ul-Kursi are the qualities of a ruler, of a king. And all the qualities in that long verse I recited earlier are the qualities of a creator, of a maker.

So, these are the two Ism-e-Azam i.e Greatest Names.

The creative one and the executive one.

This is the method. You should recite both of these—meaning, read and meditate on them—300 times daily.

I want to add a hopeful thought: Who knows, maybe the angels will come to your house to do house cleaning! Now, I don't mean that literally. What I mean is, your home and your life will become so pure and so blessed that the angels—who are pure beings—will be drawn to you. They will even descend to the earth and will be eager to meet you.

Now, I want to tell you about something I mentioned in a my earlier posts long time ago.

I had said that reciting the Quran has two special qualities.

The first quality is about the morning recitation. I quoted a verse:

Inna Qur-aan al-Fajri kaana mashhuda

—which means, "Indeed, the recitation of the Quran at dawn is witnessed.

This is from Surah Al-Isra, verse 78.

What that means is that the angels of the night and the angels of the day are both present at dawn to witness your recitation.

So, that time is very special.

The second quality is about beauty.

I said: If you recite the Quran beautifully, the angels will come out, and they will take your greetings and your prayers up to Allah.

And then I told a beautiful story to show you what I mean.

There is a story about a companion of the Prophet named Usaid. He said to the Prophet Muhammad (Ṣallāllāhu 'alayhi wa 'alā ālihi wasallam):

"Ya RasoolAllah (Ṣallāllāhu 'alayhi wa 'alā ālihi wasallam)! I was reciting the Holy Quran near the cot of my child."

A cot is a small bed for a baby. So, he was reading near his sleeping child.

And then he said:

"I saw some clouds coming down from the sky. They kept coming closer and closer, until they were very low."

Now, Usaid got scared. He thought, "What if these clouds hurt my baby?"

He was worried about his child. So, he stopped his recitation. He stopped reading.

Then the Prophet (Ṣallāllāhu 'alayhi wa 'alā ālihi wasallam):

"O Usaid! Those were not ordinary clouds. Those were angels. They were descending to the earth because of your beautiful voice and your beautiful recitation. If you had continued reciting, they would have come out from those clouds and would have shaken your hands and greeted you."

And here is my final, most important point.

I want you to know this clearly. Do not think that this was just a story about people from the past. Do not think that those angels were only for them, because they were great and old. And do not think that because of that, this can't happen today.

I am telling you, with Yaqeen and absolute certainty: this is still true. The angels are still here. They are still attentive. And if you recite beautifully, with a pure heart, they can come to you too.

That is everything I have to say.

May Allah bless you and your family. Ameen

Sidi Muhyiddin bin Arabi said, "Whoever reads the Ayatul kursiyu at night and during the day a thousand times and it lasts for forty days, I swear by Allah and His messenger,The Spirit will be unveils to him,the Great Prophet will be revealed to him spiritually in his dreams, Angels come to visit the reader and he can get all his desires. His purpose is worldly or otherworldly. There is no doubt or suspicion about this number.

The end of what we wanted to convey from the words of the great Pole, Sidi Mohauddin bin Arabi, as stated in the book "Khazina Al-Asrar"
