Site visit to our biobased CLT house in Deventer, under construction — on the way to our holiday. So nice to see it all coming together and to finally experience the space in real life, construction site mess included. The wood fibre insulation is in, and the roof terrace walls are up, all made by our client!

We love the 80’s! Last year, we completed the redesign of three iconic 1980s social housing blocks in Rotterdam Noord.

Staying true to the bold use of color in the original design, we introduced metallic colour accents and refined the composition for greater clarity. The updated façades feature enhanced insulation, which we expressed by staggering the panels to create texture and depth. Vertical colored seams were added, giving the buildings a more dynamic and readable appearance, which was previously missing.

These complexes were originally designed by Passchier Vandensteen in 1985, as part of a larger set of eight similar buildings spread across Rotterdam Noord.

We were commissioned by and and collaborated closely with the architects of the other five buildings— .abacaxi, and Laurens Boodt. While each design had its own unique character, we ensured all eight buildings retained a cohesive identity, united by light grey panels and an emphasis on verticality. The project was realized by .

Get a sneak peek at our most vibrant home remodel yet! By creatively relocating the toilet and part of the kitchen into a sculptural central core, we opened up direct sightlines through the house—from the garden all the way to the street. A window integrated into the shelving adds a surprising and seamless connection between the living room and kitchen.

We had an amazing time collaborating with our bold and proactive clients on this fast-paced project. Joining mid-process, we used sketching, 3D modeling, and on-site design to bring it all together in a hands-on approach we hope to use more often!

Double Green House - on the north facing quay, these green houses form a nice light rectangle in the facade wall with a surprising brick and fence colour.

The horizontal windows in the frieze frame views on the river and the Rotterdam skyline like paintings and are a nod to similarly proportioned windows in the historic centre. The window composition gives the facade a clear plinth, middle and top within a singular material.
